Blue Hens Broadcast Crew

The 2014 University of Delaware season will mark the 16th consecutive year of Blue Hen football being broadcast on 94.7 WDSD.

94.7 FM WDSD, the only station with statewide coverage in Delaware, will once again be the flagship station for Blue Hen football, with coverage throughout Delaware, and parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Games can also be heard online at WDSD.com and on your mobile device, using the iHeart Radio app.

For the third season, Scott Klatzkin will handle all play-by-play duties for Delaware Football. Klatzkin, the "Voice of the Blue Hens,” also provides play-by-play for the CAA Champion Blue Hens Men’s Basketball team on WDSD-FM. Matt Janus, in his eighth year with the broadcast crew, will serve as color analyst for the second straight season. Coming off of a five-year career as wide receiver for the Blue Hens, Mike Milburn will make his debut this season as sideline reporter. Matt Ryan, returning for his tenth consecutive season, will be the on-site producer for the seventh straight year, and will join the crew on-air during the pre-game, half-time and post-game shows.  Once again joining the pre-game show as a weekly guest for the 11th consecutive year will be Kevin Tresolini from the News Journal.  James Taylor returns to the crew for his second season as field sound operator and will also handle on-site production at select away games.

For the second consecutive season, the entire Blue Hens radio broadcast crew is made up of University of Delaware graduates.

WDSD-FM will once again begin its coverage of Delaware football games one hour prior to kick-off with the “Blue Hens Gameday” pre-game show, and during all home games the show will be live outside of Delaware Stadium.

The Blue Hens Football Coach’s Show, hosted by Klatzkin, will be broadcast live every Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. throughout the season and will feature Head Coach Dave Brock and student-athlete guests. The show will once again take place at Klondike Kate’s Restaurant on Main Street in Newark, with the first show to air on August 27th.

For more University of Delaware sports, Blue Hens Live will air every Friday at 5pm throughout the season on WDSD’s partner station, Fox Sports 1290 AM. The show will take place at the Clear Channel Media + Entertainment sports studio during weeks of home games and will be live from the road when the Blue Hens are traveling. The first show of the season will air on September 5th.

A Newark, Delaware native, Klatzkin will serve in his third season as play-by-play “Voice of the Blue Hens” football and men’s basketball teams in 2014.

A 2007 graduate of the University of Delaware, Klatzkin previously provided play-by-play for the Blue Hens while serving as Sports Director of student radio station, WVUD-FM, as an undergraduate. He returned to work with Delaware in 2011 as co-host of “Blue Hens Beat,” the web based show airing bi-weekly on BlueHens.com. Klatzkin continues to work with the University through the Hens All-Access website and as host to many Blue Hens events and banquets. He has also worked for the Colonial Athletic Association by broadcasting basketball games on television and hosting each of the last two CAA Media Day Live programs on CAA.TV.

Prior to becoming the play-by-play broadcaster for his alma mater in 2012, Klatzkin spent the previous four seasons broadcasting Delaware State University football and basketball, as well as the Delaware High School football and basketball “Game of the Week” on Sports Radio 1290, WWTX-AM.

Klatzkin has been named the 2009 and 2013 Delaware Sportscaster of the Year Award presented by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and is also a Delaware Press Association award winner for his broadcasting of University of Delaware Football.

A 2007 graduate of the University of Delaware, Janus enters his eighth season with the broadcast team and his second season as color analyst.

Janus had previously served in many roles with the broadcast team, including on-site producer and sideline reporter. Prior to teaming up at 94.7 FM, Janus had formerly partnered with play-by-play broadcaster, Scott Klatzkin, as a University of Delaware undergrad on the student radio station.

Janus will begin his third season as play-by-play broadcaster for Women’s Basketball this winter on Fox Sports 1290 AM and 1410 WDOV AM. Matt served as the voice of the women’s basketball team during the squad’s 2013 run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

He also currently works for the Kansas City Royals’ A affiliate, Wilmington Blue Rocks, as the team’s New Media Manager and Play-by-Play broadcaster.

A former University of Delaware Blue Hens standout at the wide receiver position, Mike Milburn joins the broadcast team for the 2014 season as sideline reporter. The 2014 University of Delaware graduate caught 33 passes in his career, twice for touchdowns. Milburn was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American nominee and a three-time CAA Academic Honor Roll selection.

As a student-athlete, Milburn gained broadcasting and reporting experience by working as co-host of “Full Court Press” on the University’s Student Television Network. He also provided BlueHens.com and Hens All-Access with post-game reports and recaps throughout Men’s and Women’s Basketball season.

Matt Ryan, a 2005 University of Delaware communications graduate, will begin his tenth season with WDSD this fall and seventh as on-site producer in the broadcast booth.  He will also join the crew on-air during the pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows. While enrolled at Delaware, he worked on both the student radio and student television stations as a broadcaster, which included coverage of the 2003 National Championship Delaware squad.

James Taylor graduated the University of Delaware in 2012 with a degree in civil engineering and enters his fifth season with WDSD. A jack-of-all-trades, Taylor will rotate as both field sound operator and on-site producer throughout the season. He also serves as in-studio producer during basketball season and promotions director at the Blue Hens Football Coach’s Shows.

Matt Pencek joins the broadcast crew for the 2014 season as studio host, providing the broadcast with scoreboard updates and the Halftime Report. Pencek will also begin his 3rd season of play-by-play coverage for Fox Sports 1290 AM’s High School Football Game of the Week this fall. Along with Jon Buzby, he is the co-host of First State Football, Delaware's only radio show dedicated to high school football.
